  34.  - Users of the CDU-package must accept this disclaimer of warranty:

  36.  - The  CDU-package  is  supplied  as  is.   The  author  disclaims  all
  37.    warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,  the
  38.    warranties of merchantability  and of fitness  for any purpose.   The
  39.    author assumes  no liability  for damages,  direct or  consequential,
  40.    which may result from the use of the CDU-package;

  42.  - The  CDU-package  is  a  "shareware  program"  and is provided at  no
  43.    charge to the user for evaluation.   Feel free to share it with  your
  44.    friends,  but  please  do  not  give  it  away  altered or as part of
  45.    another  system.   The  essence  of  "user-supported"  software is to
  46.    provide personal  computer users  with quality  software without high
  47.    prices, and yet to provide  incentive for programmers to continue  to
  48.    develop new products.

  50.  - If  you find  this program  useful and  find that  you are  using and
  51.    continue the  use of  the CDU-package  after a  30 days trial period,
  52.    you must register the CDU-package as described below;

  54.  - Non-commercial can get a licence for the usage up to this release  of
  55.    the CDU-package for free. Look  into the details in REGISTER.CDU  For
  56.    Non-commercial users there is a  POSSIBILITY to submit to one  of the
  57.    special contracts as explained in the file REGISTER.CDU;

  59.  - Commercial  usage of  CDU will  cost some  money. Also,  a so  called
  60.    'closed' Bulletin  Board System  (a system  where the  user must  pay
  61.    direct to  the SysOp  to get  full access)  is considered  as a  com-
  62.    mercial user.  Both types  of users  should look  into the details in
  63.    REGISTER.CDU;

  65.  - The registration of the CDU-package will licence ONE copy for use  on
  66.    any computer at any  one time, as long  as the usage confirms  to the
  67.    type of registration you have done (so NON-commercial usage when  you
  68.    have a non-commercial licence);

  70.  - Anyone  distributing  the  CDU-package  for any kind of  remuneration
  71.    must  first   contact  the   Author   at   the  address   above   for
  72.    authorization;

  74.  - You are encouraged  to pass a copy  of the CDU-package along  to your
  75.    friends  for  evaluation.   Please  encourage  them to register their
  76.    copy if they find that they can use it;

  78.  - Support  on  CDU,  when  used  in  a  non-commercial environment,  is
  79.    available  by  means  of  written  letters  or by entering the inter-

  107.    lines,  is  a  theft  and  no  fair  play  to  the  author  and, more

  110.  - Bulletin Board  Systems that distribute  the CDU package  can convert
  111.    the WHOLE package  to any archive-system  they like but  all original
  112.    files must  be included  in the  new archive.  The CDU-package on the
  113.    Bulletin Board  can contain  at the  most 2  extra files. These files
  114.    can only be  a commercial for  that Bulletin Board  and/or validation
  115.    data that is presented  as a service to  all users and shall  have no
  116.    other functions;

  118.  - After  the normal  trial period  of 30  days, you  must register  the
  119.    soft- ware (see REGISTER.CDU) or you must remove it from your PC;

  121.  - Most  important,  you  should  register  the  original  CATDISK  <tm>

  138.  There are several  ways to register  the usage of  the CDU-package. All
  139.  is depending on the environment where CDU will be running.

  142.  NON-Commercial registration

  145.  When you use CDU in  a non-commercial environment, the registration  is
  146.  simple and rather cheap  if you consider all  the time I have  put into
  147.  this product. As NON-commercial user, you can registere for the  amount
  148.  of US $ 10,00. Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:

  150.  - The license for running ONE copy of the CDU-package in a  NON-commer-
  151.    cial environment on any computer at any one time;
  152.  
  153.  - A diskette with the latest copy of the CDU-package on 5 1/4 or 3  1/2
  154.    inch diskette (360/720 Kb);
  155.  
  156.  - A special file to enter the  name of the owner in the header  of most
  157.    of  the  CDU  utilities.  This  file  can be used on subsequent also,
  158.    those releases obtained from Shareware sources like a BBS;
  159.  
  160.  The license does NOT include any update service as described later  nor
  161.  does it include the 90 days support contract.

  163.  The price for a commercial license  is US $ 20,-- for a  NON-commercial
  164.  user. Closed  BBS users  and commercial  users must  look into the next
  165.  chapter.

  171.  When you use CDU in a commercial  environment or when you use CDU on  a
  172.  so called 'closed' BBS (this is a  BBS where the users must pay to  the
  173.  Sysop to  get full  access), you  must pay  for a  license to  use CDU.
  174.  Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:

  176.  - The license for running ONE  copy of the CDU-package in a  commercial
  177.    environment on any computer at any one time;

  179.  - A diskette with the latest copy of the CDU-package on 5 1/4 or 3  1/2

  200.  Both  commercial  AND  non-commercial  users  can enter the update ser-
  201.  vice.  International  users  who  use  CDU commercial or non-commercial
  202.  will benefit most of this  feature. Paying the fee for  update service,
  203.  entitles you to:

  205.  - Receiving every new release (minor  AND major) for the period of  one
  206.    year or  10 releases  (which ever  comes first)  on diskette media by
  207.    first-class Airmail;
  208.  
  209.  - The updates will  be send the same  day the new release  is submitted
  210.    to the support BBS (2:512/100 in Holland);
  211.  
  212.  - The  diskettes are  first-class (no  no-name or  white diskettes) and
  213.    will contain a special diskette label;
  214.  
  215.  The price for update service is US $ 30,-- for 5 1/2 inch (360Kb)  dis-
  216.  kettes and US $ 40,-- for 3 1/2 inch (720Kb) diskettes.

  222.  - By postal  money order or  international money order.  Normal cheques
  223.    (if they are not EuroCheques)  will cost me extra money  to transfer,
  224.    so add  US $  10,-- for  transfer if  you use  such a cheque. Cheques
  225.    that can not be collected  within a reasonable time, are  returned to
  226.    the sender;

  236.    currency, but make  sure to use  a valid exchange  rate. This is  the
  237.    exchange rate on the day you send the money to me;
